If Only i trusted: Psalm 27, the poem of uncertain belief
Did you know our prayers make space for struggling with trust in The Divine during the High Holidays? Psalm 27, also called the Psalm of Awe, is read every day throughout the holidays in many Jewish services. The poem begins with confidence in Hashem's presence, and ends on a note of doubt. Come for a deep reading of this ancient poem, and strategies for reading Psalms, some of our most honest Torah about human emotion.

Parasha Study
Join Rabbi Heather on Mondays and Rabbi Sass on Tuesdays for Parasha Study, a weekly drop-in space where JOCs can dive deep into learning the beauty of Torah, share their unique and inspiring takes on the week's Parasha (Torah portion), and build community.
Since many of the coming holidays start on Monday nights, our weekly Parasha Study times will change for the weeks of September 21 - October 12. We hope you’ll join Rabbi Heather and Rabbi Sass for some High Holiday-season JOC Torah study!
JOC Joy in the Sukkah: Denver + Boston with Ammud: The Jews of Color Torah Academy
Sukkot is Zeman Simchateinu - the Time for Our Joy! Come focus on our JOC joy with Ammud's Ambassador Rabbis. We’ll do a short study around Ushpizin Ilayin - the idea of conjuring mystical guests to share a meal in your sukkah. We’ll share the spiritual, ancestral, and inspirational guests we’d love to have a meal with, and feel their presence through a ritual invitation. To be accommodating of allergies and eating practices, we invite everyone to bring dairy/parve dinner for themselves.
This program is an affinity space for adults who identify as Jews of Color. JOCs are invited to bring their partners and loved ones to Ammud holiday programming.
Kara Vo: Ammud’s Intro to Hebrew Reading Class for JOCs
Want to learn to read the Hebrew aleph-bet from scratch, or strengthen your skill with the letters and sounds? Join us for Ammud's Intro to Hebrew class!
The ancient kings of Yisrael kept a Torah scroll next to their thrones, so that they would Read It - Kara Vo - and it would remain with them all the days of their lives (Devarim 17:18-19). Reading the Hebrew aleph-bet is a first step towards making Torah yours, a lifelong companion.
Ammud aspires to give JOCs the tools, skills, resources, and support to go wherever they want on their Jewish journeys. This is a beginner level class, for those who are completely new to the aleph-bet, and those who have learned before and want to refresh their knowledge. With a curriculum developed by expert Hebrew educator T'helah Ben-Dan and taught by Rabbi Sass Brown, this course will set learners up to decode Hebrew in future text study, synagogue services, and home rituals. Come learn in a supportive affinity space!
