Avraham Sosa (he/him) - Chicagoland Ambassador
Avraham Sosa is currently a member of Cohort II of Rabbinic North America at the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America. He is an educator passionate about integrating Torah and Chesed through a pluralistic approach. He taught Middle School Science and Jewish Studies at Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School in Chicago, where he also served as the Coordinator for 5th/6th Grade Jewish Studies and Tefillah. Previously, he taught science at JCDS, Boston’s Jewish Community Day School, where he developed a project-based learning curriculum in physics, biology, and chemistry. Avraham is the Co-Chair of Education on the board of Skokie Valley Synagogue and previously served as Gabbai of the Stanton Street Synagogue and Sixth Street Synagogue in New York, as well as a Jewish conversion sponsor with the Rabbinical Council of America (RCA). Before transitioning to education, Avraham was an electronic engineer at the Federal Electricity Commission in Mexico, leading corporate energy efficient initiatives. Avraham currently teaches Foundations of Judaism for Jews by Choice at Anshe Emet Synagogue and serves as a STEAM educator at Rochelle Zell Jewish High School. As a Jew by Choice himself, he is passionate about helping others build meaningful connections to Jewish life, learning, and community. He holds a B.S. in Electronic Engineering from Merida Institute of Technology in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, a diploma in astronomy from Sinaloa University in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico and completed undergraduate coursework at Yeshiva University. Avraham lives in Skokie, IL, with his wife, Chavie, and daughter, Noa Imelda.
