New Trash Collection Guidelines Effective January 1, 2008
Beginning January 1, 2008, new
procedures for Trash collection will begin. The new procedures have
been approved by the Anderson Mill M.U.D. Board of Directors in
response to increase fuel, insurance, labor, and landfill
disposal costs. The collections will occur once per week on your
usual day (no changes), if you need an extra cart, please call
(512)247-5647.
Trash Collection Guidelines:
Anderson Mill M.U.D. contracts with Allied
Waste (formerly BFI) for solid waste collection. New service is set up in
the Anderson Mill Office (512-258-4104) at 11500 El Salido Parkway, Austin,
TX 78750 at the same time water and wastewater service is arranged.

You must have your carts placed at the curb by
7:30 A.M. The drivers note the addresses that do
not have their carts out when they go down the street, and will NOT go
back if you have forgotten.
Allied Waste (formerly BFI) requests that customers place
no more than
3 (three) extras trash bags in addition to the cart at the curb each collection day.

Bulky Waste
- Collection by appointment only on the 1st Wednesday of the month. Pick
up of stoves, hot water tanks, washing machines, furniture
and other large waste items will be
collected on the 1st Wednesday of the month by appointment only.
Please call Allied Waste
at (512) 247-5647 to arrange for bulky item collection. Refrigerators,
freezers, and air conditioners must have certification by a licensed
technician of CFC (refrigerant) recovery.

Yard Waste -
Collection by appointment only
on the 1st Wednesday of the month. Trees, shrub, and brush
trimmings are to be cut into four (4) foot lengths and securely tied
together. Bagged leaves and yard waste
will be collected on the 1st Wednesday of the month by appointment
only. Tree limbs and trimmings not
cut into 4 foot lengths and bundled and tied will not be collected.
Leaves and yard waste must be bagged.

CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION DEBRIS WILL NOT BE COLLECTED WITH
REGULAR TRASH OR ON BULKY ITEM DAYS. IF YOU HAVE CONSTRUCTION OR
DEMOLITION DEBRIS CALL (512) 247-5647 TO ARRANGE FOR A SPECIAL
CONTAINER. THERE WILL BE A CHARGE FOR CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION DEBRIS
REMOVAL

Recycling-
Allied Waste can not collect tires, flammable
liquids, wet paint, used oil, batteries, hazardous wastes, or any
appliance that contains Freon or coolants The recycling program includes newspapers
magazines, catalogs, phone books, office paper, school paper, paper
bags, tin/steel cans, aluminum cans, and plastic beverage and
laundry product bottles. Corrugated cardboard will be collected for
recycling if it is flattened in a bundle or more than 3 feet by 3 feet
wide and no more than 6 inches thick. Place recyclables for collection
on your regular collection day
RECYCLING NOTES: Glass is no longer recycled in any color. There
are no available users of recycled glass and it has become
hazardous for the workers to handle. Place all glass in the normal trash
container.
Paper: If it is raining on
your pickup day, DO NOT put out paper in the recycling bin. They
will not pickup WET paper. Save it for a clear day or put it in the
regular trash.

Holiday Trash Collection Service will slide
to the next
day during the week of the holiday.
For example, if a holiday falls on Wednesday, then Wednesday's customers are serviced on Thursday; Thursday's customers are
serviced on Friday and Friday's customers are serviced on Saturday. This
applies to the following holidays:
If your cart is missing for some reason, contact the
Anderson Mill M.U.D. office at (512)258-4104 to arrange to have it
replaced.
Trash Items Not Collected by Allied
Waste: Construction Debris, Dead
Animals, Insecticides/Pesticides, Paint Cans, Lead Batteries, Tires,
Used Motor Oil, Non-Certified Refrigerators, Freezers, or Air
Conditioners. Household Hazardous Materials of any kind. See below for
information regarding the Williamson County Household Hazardous Waste
Collection Center.

Williamson County Recycle Center -
The first commercial fee based household recycle center in
Texas. Allowing households an outlet for most chemicals in their home year
round. WCRC does not accept gas cylinders, explosives, pharmaceuticals or
bio waste.

You may download the form to fill
out before you take the materials to the Recycling Center. The
pricing is very reasonable and it defrays the considerable costs of
disposing of these materials safely and responsibly. Help to keep
these potentially dangerous materials out of our environment.
